First Line Friday #77

Today is the day before I leave for our family vacation. I can hardly wait. We will be enjoying some relaxation in the northern part of Michigan. Do you have a family vacation planned this year? Where will you go?

Today, on First Line Friday I am sharing a sweet novella I read three years ago. It's by one of my favorite authors, Karen Witemeyer. The novel is called The Husband Maneuver. If you like reading novels on Kindle, it is currently only $1.99!

Absorbed in the book she held, Marietta Hawkins nibbled on her lower lip and burrowed more deeply into the hay piled near the loft window.

Marietta is in love with Daniel, her father's foreman. She's pretty certain he's interested in her too, but he's never spoken a word about it to her. She knew her father had forbidden any of his ranch hands from showing any romantic interest in his daughter or they would be fired. Marietta tries to take matters into her own hands, but Daniel promised her father he'd abide by his rules. Daniel is not a man to go back on a promise.

Now it’s your turn. First Line Friday is something every reader can participate in. Pick up a book near you. Type the first line in the comments, along with the title of the book and the author. If you’d like, check out the books other readers have featured on their blogs by clicking on the Hoarding Books link at the end of this post.
