First Line Friday #67

I'm very excited about the book I'm featuring today. This book was written by my friend and it's the third book in The Hillbrooke Series. I got to know the people in this series in the first book. They captured my heart further in the second book. As I read the book I'm featuring today, I felt like I was revisiting my friends and meeting some new ones. This is such a great series.

The book I'm featuring is Hillbrooke God's Rewrite by Beverly Joy Roberts. Beverly is a great storyteller, author, and pastor's wife. This series will be especially fascinating and familiar to anyone who enjoys a thriving Pentecostal church.

Chapter 1

Zak Parker held the steering wheel with one hand and mindlessly massaged his bushy beard with the other. His beard partially covered the once prominent tattoo on his face that gave him the nickname, Snake.

Fawn, a school counselor, has tried to have a baby with no success. Yet the longing to start a family with her husband continues unrelentlessly. She and her husband have even applied to become foster parents. In the midst of all of this, one of the students Fawn counsels announces she's pregnant. The student is unmarried and would love to be rid of this problem. Is abortion the answer for her? At the same time, a little three-year-old girl who has been abused, is in desperate need of a permanent home. She has been moved from foster care home to foster care home because of the path of destruction she leaves in her wake.

This book grips the heart and is hard to put down. It's amazing to see what can happen when God puts His finger in situations that seem impossible. Reading this book brings the words of Jesus to mind, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26 NIV

I love the cover of this book. My heart squeezes a little each time I look at it. How I would love to take that little girl into my arms.
