First Line Friday #64

The book I'm featuring this week is Calico Spy by Margaret Brownley. It's a western about a Pinkerton operative, Katie Madison, who accepts a case in Calico, Kansas. Two Harvey House waitresses have been murdered and Katie works undercover to find the killer. Calico's sheriff has a great distrust of Pinkerton agents. Katie and the sheriff are attracted to each other the first time they meet but, for several reasons, resist their feelings. However, they must work together to find the murderer, so it's impossible to avoid each other. Add into this a town full of interesting characters and you will find this novel to be a fun read.
