First Line Friday #36

It's a beautiful, sunny Friday here in South-Central Michigan. I can hear my husband outside on the John Deere tractor, which puts a smile on my face. I love freshly mowed grass! The look and the smell speaks to me of summer. Woohoo!!I've just updated my website, which is why I haven't posted a First Line Friday for the past couple weeks. But I'm finally back and I have a wonderful book to share with you.The book I’m featuring today is Before the Apocalypse, by Taylor Jaxon. This is a young adult Christian suspense novel that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Sam's Home. October 24, 7 a.m.

"Roaring winds pelted rain against the house, followed by rhythmic blows near Sam's head.He startled awake."

Here is my brief review: Sam is not a believer, but has dreams about the end times that fill his mind with questions. Most daunting is the fact that a voice in his dreams tells him to “tell others.” The only problem is, he doesn’t know what he’s supposed to say? At the same time, there is a new religion in town that is all inclusive, which lures followers by promising love and peace. The truth is, this religion wants to rule the world. Sam is a handsome, gifted young man. Unable to depend on his parents to help pay for his continued education, he desperately needs to receive a scholarship to attend college. There are so many twists and turns in this story that compel the reader to want to read just one more chapter. Before you know it, you’ve finished the book. The characters are all well developed and the writing is excellent. Now it’s your turn. First Line Friday is something every reader can participate in. Pick up a book near you.
